Junior High Community

Junior High students gather in a small group inside the classroom to study

Where Everybody Belongs

VCJH is a thriving student body. Whether they’re cheering on their fellow Warriors in class competitions, dressing up in crazy costumes for spirit week, or giving it their all at the annual jog- a-thon, it’s easy to see that our students are excited and proud to be Warriors.

Where Everbody Belongs (WEB)

The aim of our WEB program, which stands for “Where Everybody Belongs,” is to provide opportunities for student leaders to minister, connect, and help provide a welcoming environment to make new sixth, seventh, and eighth graders feel comfortable throughout their first year at VCJH. Built on the belief that students can help other students succeed, the program trains mentors from the seventh and eighth-grade Leadership class to be WEB Leaders. These positive role models guide new students through their transition into the VCJH community by praying for each new student, sending them cards of encouragement, and coordinating social interactions centered on building relationships.

By understanding that the transition to a different school is sometimes overwhelming, WEB provides structure for new students to receive support and guidance from peers who have been through the common challenges that middle school poses. Likewise, it serves as an anti-bullying program for our campus by providing a cadre of student leaders who are on the lookout for bullying behavior and know how to effectively intervene, creating a safer school for everybody. Through training programs for our student leaders and fostering positive interactions between students, WEB effectively embodies the program’s motto: “Together, we can make a difference.” Not only does this facilitate a safe community at VCJH, but it prepares and inspires our students to be positive contributors to society in the future as well.
